29 Years Later: Logistics Has Changed. So Have We.

29 Years Later Logistics Has Changed. So Have We Cover

This year, Becker Logistics celebrates 29 years in business!

Recently, we had the opportunity to celebrate this milestone with employees and their families at a Chicago Dogs baseball game in Rosemont, Illinois. It was a fun evening filled with conversation, laughter, and reflection. Looking around at everyone together served as a reminder that businesses are not built by buildings, software, or processes alone. They are built by people.

And when you’ve been part of an industry for nearly three decades, it’s impossible not to reflect on how much has changed along the way.

29 Years Anniversary Picture

For those who have spent years in transportation and logistics, there’s a certain nostalgia that comes with remembering how the industry once operated. The tools were different. The pace was different. The world was different. But through every market shift, disruption, and technological leap, one thing has remained true: logistics has always been an industry built on resilience, adaptability, and relationships.

That spirit continues to drive the industry forward today.

The Industry Looked Very Different in 1997

Back in 1997, when Becker Logistics first opened, logistics moved at a different pace.

Shipment updates came through phone calls. Rate confirmations were faxed back and forth. Whiteboards, spreadsheets, and handwritten notes were part of daily operations. Finding a truck often meant spending hours on the phone building relationships one conversation at a time.

There was no real-time tracking. No instant visibility. No automation streamlining every process.

And yet, even then, the industry was built on the same core principles that still matter today: communication, integrity, problem-solving, and relationships.

Relationships Always Mattered

Technology has transformed logistics over the last 29 years, but relationships remain the foundation of the industry.

Many of the strongest partnerships in transportation were built long before digital freight platforms and AI-powered tools existed. They were built through consistency, reliability, and people doing what they said they would do.

That part has never changed.

Logistics Never Stops Evolving

Over the years, the industry has experienced enormous change.

We’ve seen the rise of e-commerce, shifting customer expectations, economic swings, supply chain disruptions, tighter delivery windows, and increasing demands for visibility and speed. Processes that once took hours now happen in seconds.

The pace of change continues to accelerate.

The Future Will Move Even Faster

Artificial intelligence, automation, predictive analytics, and smarter integrations are already reshaping how logistics companies operate. Customers expect faster answers, better visibility, and more efficiency than ever before.

What feels advanced today may feel outdated just a few years from now.

That can sound intimidating, but it’s also exciting.

Every major shift in this industry creates opportunity for companies willing to adapt, improve, and rethink how work gets done. Logistics has always rewarded resilience and innovation, and that will continue long into the future.

Built by People

While technology continues to evolve, the people behind the work remain the most important part of the business.

That’s why celebrating this anniversary alongside employees and their families meant so much to us. The recent Chicago Dogs outing was more than just a celebration of 29 years. It was a reminder that companies are built by people, relationships, and shared experiences over time.

From customers and carriers to employees and partners, every relationship has played a role in helping Becker Logistics grow over nearly three decades.

As we look ahead to year 30 and beyond, one thing is certain: the industry will continue changing, and so will we.

And honestly, that’s part of what makes logistics exciting.
